Do we still need E3?
It's that time again. In almost exactly five weeks Mr Gaston and I will be on our way to Los Angeles, the land of endless freeways, dizzying advertising, and ice-cream sundaes with bacon in them.
Why didn't Trials Evolution get a 10?

Last week, if you weren't too busy playing Trials Evolution, you might have spotted my 9/10 review of Trials Evolution. It's my usual...
Will this year's best games be dominated by downloadable titles?

We've had good download-only games for years, but 2012 is shaping up to be the mediums's best year to date. In fact, we've been treated to and are yet to get our hands on so much good stuff that our Game of the Year list could well be dominated by them.

I played my Vita every day for around two months. It was my go-to games console all over January and February, to the extent that I even played the less than stellar releases, and dabbled with some old PSP classics. Now, less than two months after its February 22 release in the UK, I can't remember the last time I turned the handheld on.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Just when you thought you dried all those tears away after hearing about Pearson's plan to leave VideoGamer to become a modern day Kerouac [Meet American girls - Ed], this post happens. Like Pearson I'm also he...
Why I'm still sad that Bizarre and PGR are dead

I love video games. I love them so much that I chose to write about them for next to no money for most of my early adult life. But despite that, there are few game series I care passionately about. I've got a soft spot for Gears of War and God of War, but it's PGR that ranks as my favourite video game series of all time. Sadly for me and other PGR fans, it's a series that for all intents and purposes is dead.

A BORING POST ABOUT AUTHORSHIP IN GAMES

Michael Mateas is a prof and video game designer who's managed to make it in to my pretty nebulous list of favourite AI Researchers. I doubt you recognise his name unless you ever bother trolling game stud...
It's amazing how far we've come

I subscribed to PlayStation Plus a few months ago, and it's an excellent service that offers users some great bonuses - such as free games and heavily discounted titles. Some of those free downloads are PSOne titles, and it's these that I've gravitated to.
Kid Icarus' lefty options make me want to stage an uprising

Popular angel-em-up Kid Icarus: Uprising swoops (do you see what I did there) onto Nintendo's 3DS today, allowing players to dick around in what is basically a snazzier version of Panzer Dragoon, t...

Look! My blog is back from the dead! To celebrate this momentous occasion, my first post of 2012 will be guest-written by Captain Obvious.
To Hell With Girl Gamers

Aris Bakhtanians, Tekken coach turned culturo-political meme, has become the latest example of what you can find growing in the armpit of games culture. Aris is this month's beacon of industry sexism that's b...
Microsoft is becoming a more casual version of PS2-era Sony

My sister turned 12 years old yesterday. Her main gift was an Xbox 360 with Kinect (she's not spoilt by the way - she'd saved lots of the money towards it herself, but that's beside the point). While I'd love to say she wanted the console for the hundreds of quality gamer's games available, her decision was all down to Kinect and the various fun little games available on XBLA.
Here's what's happening with reviews

Hello! Today I want to talk about reviews.
Things are changing around here, and this will impact on how you're used to reading content on VideoGamer. In the past we've stuck exclusively to an ...
What's wrong with Leon's face in Resident Evil 6?

I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed Resident Evil 5, and I absolutely love Resident Evil 4, so you could say I'm a little bit excited about what Capcom has in store for November 20 with Resi 6 - but what the hell have they done to Leon's face?

Choose Your Own Adventure - Part 3

Misery of the Misplaced Moggy - Part 3
(Part 1, Part 2)
After what feels like a half a month of hesitation, you gingerly climb the steps to the attic, wooden slats creaking underfoot. As you rise into the gloom, a damp staleness assaults your nostrils.
So many games, so little time

Boo hoo, poor little me, with my first world problems. Today I've been contemplating how I'm ever going to play all the games I want to get through before the end of the year.
Emily Gera, Dog of Hell

In the absence of more video games about being animals, The Sims 3 Pets demo asks the question: Do games need more dogs? Then answers: [b]AREN'T WE ALL JUST...
The curse of free apps

I have a problem. I am addicted to browsing for Apps that are free. I spend more time doing this than actually playing games on my iPod touch, constantly forcing me to delete old apps to free up more space for new ones.

Misery of the Misplaced Moggy - Part 2
(For Part 1, click here.)
As you climb the stairs your footsteps scarcely make a sound, so plush is the carpet beneath you. Upon reaching the top, you pause.
Silence.
Choose Your Own Adventure - Part 1

Are you an old person? Not so old that you smell of lavender and talk about TV presenters as if they were your friends, but old enough that you recall the days before Lord Internet turned up and made us his slaves? If so, you probably remember books.
Is Dark Souls fun?

I didn't think I'd ever play it, but I was hit by a strange feeling on Saturday and felt an urge to give Dark Souls a try. Despite what I'd heard and read about the game I actually had a fair bit of confidence as I created by character. That was probably my first mistake.

As of September 20th, I have been playing nothing but Gears of War 3. It's that game people like to call Gears of Grey or as Jamin likes to call it, Ge...
A fresh reason to hate Subway

I'm not a big fan of Subway. While I must confess that I tend to visit the one at Cologne Bonn airport, on my way back from gamescom, that's largely because it's the only food outlet once you've passed through security. Throughout the rest of the year, I steer well clear. I wouldn't normally classify sandwiches as fast food, but Subway's creations invariably taste like greasy junk in a bun.
A short FAQ for your Diablo III needs
