Bionic Commando Rearmed Review
Quote:
This game takes no prisoners - it stamps on weakness like a malicious child who's found an unfortunate snail.

If it was up to me, then the graphics would be 4. Its repeated and looks silly..
Imo after watching a minute of gameplay :P

But if you compare it to other arcade games the graphics are actually really really good!

The game looks brilliant for an XBLA title.

The gameplay is so fun in this game, the super hardcore challenge modes look like a lot of fun. And yes, hours of frustration IS my idea of fun Grin

"the main change from the original Bionic Commando is that the central character, Nathan Spencer, can now survive more than a single hit"

Err... I guess the reviewer has only played the first level of the original. You earned health points by killing enemies (that's what collecting the bullets they dropped was for).

Which oddly enough, made the start of the game fairly tough but the rest of it something of a cakewalk.

After watching the videos, it doesn't look all that hard. Contra makes this game look like mario.

Brian: I have to hold my hands up: you got me on that one. I didn't have a NES as a kid, so I never actually owned the original BC. Have you played Rearmed yet? I'd be interested to know whether you think the remake gets easier as you progress.

Handwipe: If you're a Contra veteran then you'll probably be fine - in fact, you're probably the kind of person who'll really enjoy this game. For me, the difficulty largely stems from how precise the game forces you to be with your aim and timing of the hook - it's just not something most casual gamers will be prepped for. If you've got decent platformer skills, you'll probably get a lot out this - especially the challenge rooms.

Solid review, typo in the beginning though (GRIDN). I played the original not that long ago, and IMO Rearmed is one of the best games to be released in the 21st century.

        Again, nice review, thx!
