Call of Duty: Black Ops is a far more accomplished experience than Treyarch's previous efforts.

Wow, I've been updating the website for ages to read this.
Took me a good 12 minutes to get through all three pages, but that was an absolutely fantastic read.
Cannot wait for this game now. Thank you thank you thank you Martin

Seems like the many issues i have with Cod Online have been tweeked but i still think kill streak 'rewards ' make the good great & the great untouchable . I know its Cods thing but it just encourages the camp it up ethic that seemingly is here to stay .
Treyarch for me have always done a good story & this sounds great but as i have said to friends the seems to be a lack of single player focus on games these days & replays through the campaign are redundant as it stands leaving the inflated price tag of this franchise for me means its a rent at best. I still have yet to see any real innovation from a Cod dev & until that happens my thought processes will remain unchanged .
This game was going to be my replacement for BFBC2 but the missing 4player co-op story & the return of the fun for 20 mins zombies has left me saving £45 & using it to shore up BFBC2's GOTY potential with the Vietnam pack & the pre-ordering of PoP HD giving me proper fun online with no pats on the back for camping & many hours of single player old school fun .
Great read though & it seems like i am in a huge minority of opinion but this title & franchise is clearly the leader in the Fps market.

The single player campaign will be all I'll play so I guess that makes me part of the minority also. Never the less I'm happy for all of the devout CoD'ers out there. It seems they have something great to sink thier teeth into.
So now the only decision that needs to be considered is not if, but when I will be buying it. I don't want to pay a full ticket for a game I will potentially only spend 8 - 10 hours with, but with the trade in option I have close to me it seems like an opportunity fitted especially for this situation.

There are places you can get it fairly cheap, some supermarkets are doing deals for instance.
Anyway, looking forward to pew pewing you all in the face!

What are the multiplayer maps like Martin?
I really liked the ones in World at War, but I didn't like the ones in Modern Warfare 2.

I'm completely different - I far preferred the ones in MW2 to WaW. There's a couple that are like the WaW maps of old, but the ones that seem to pop up the most in the rotation (at the moment, anyway) definitely have a twang of Infinity Ward to them.
Though by that I mean I get hints of Derail and Invasion rather than Wasteland or Estate. Seriously, I'll be so glad to see the back of Estate.

I'll only be playing it for the SP as well clangod. I'll take a little peek at the MP but I know I won't enjoy it as much as BC2.

My friends bullied me into getting Black Ops. So, today I broke into my Wii piggybank fund and brought the game. Not long come back from college and just finished reading the review.
Yet again Martin, you have dished up a mouth watering review, and making me want to rip open Black Ops and play it. Top stuff and keep it up!
