WHO was actually outraged by this? I really don't get a lot of these "the community was outraged" news we keep getting time and again in the gaming world. Are we really so immature that we are not able to cope with things like violence and sex? And surely we should be used to it by now - I'm not saying it's a good thing, but come on, we see worse on TV, in magazines, in books, and hell, in music videos aimed at teenagers!

I thought it was pretty tasteless. It's basically a statue of a pair of boobs, how is that mature?

Seriously this really annoys me. Two female characters share a kiss in a game? Mass outrage and condemnation. Young strong female lead in a game fighting off potential rapist? Mass outrage and condemnation. A female in a bikini in a game set on a sunny tropical island? Mass outrage and condemnation.

What the hell is wrong with people? Why the hell aren't these same people complaining about mainstream rubbish porn like 50 Shades of Grey, or half naked jailbait singing about sex on primetime TV, or retarded assholes and idiots like the cast of Jersey Shore - and the masses of similar rubbish floating around which we are not only NOT condemning, but indeed, we seem to promote and celebrate.

The Facebook page for Dead Island has 514,348 likes. The article in which they posted about this version has 485 likes, and 154 shares. Of the 171 people who have commented on it so far, the vast majority are positive. There are actually more complaints about it being XBox exclusive than there are about the content.

Half a million likes, which means half a million people who WILL have seen it on their Facebook feeds, generated less than 20 complaints. I wouldn't class that as an outrage, and DEFINITELY wouldn't say it was Quote:

on Twitter, you would have seen at least twice as many complaints as that. And this is without even questioning why most of the stories not only included the photo in the first place, but are even now focussing on the most offensive part of it. You know, like above.

I see both sides. While I'm not offended by it, it is another example of the objectification of women in gaming. Why isn't it a man instead? It doesn't do much for the argument that video games are inclusive and I'm sure some female gamers are sick of that.

Deep Silver isn't sorry at all, they knew what they were doing. Remember, no press is bad press and this will almost certainly boost sales.

Also, regardless of whether someone finds it offensive or not, as chelskiboy247 says, it's tasteless. The only people who'll gain enjoyment from having that 'awesome' statue on display probably still live with their mums and fail to suppress cackles every time someone says 'boobies'.

chelskiboy I'm not saying that things like the bust are priceless pieces of high art that should be treasured and preserved. Instead what I'm saying is that I find the attitude of the gaming communities to be highly immature.

Don't think many people will agree with me, but urgg, this bugs the hell outta me.
