Despite the tedium of the missions, Defiance has a ‘one more go’ thing going for it that other shoot and loot games don't.

EGO 248!? You totally missed out on contract faction pursuits then that unlock at 250 Smile Essentially there are faction-specific shops dotted about that require you to have a certain amount of faction to trade with. These contracts can be found in the Goals section and are very similar to the regular goals except you have to do 'more'. One particular faction only has multiplayer pursuits, each faction has it's own style and target enemy type and their own flavour of weaponry.

Also if you're skipping the side missions, you're missing a LOT of EGO bonuses. Completing goal pursuits adds a whole bunch of EGO just for driving around visiting places, doing co op missions (which you haven't mentioned either :P), killing stuff etc.

All in all though It's a fair enough review, even if youre just on the cusp of broaching the iceberg where the game really starts to get more challenging and interesting Smile

This review also misses the recent announcement that there's current an event going on in-game the winner of which is to have their likeness rendered into the TV series. I liked the review though, it pretty much sums my feelings up about the game too Smile

I've literally purchased this game tonight and as an avid fan of Sci-Fi games, I can agree with everything you've said in this review! Although a little more game-play is required to give a full opinion on it, all i can say is so far so good! I also can't wait to see what they will do with the series and how it will integrate with the game itself.

As a frequent online gamer, the social side of the game does bug me a bit simply because in a co-operative/competetive online game, I like there to be an easy way of communicating with other players just to make the game more fun! Your exactly right when you say player keep themselves to themselves, but i would like a bit more interaction with other players, especially from an MMO. Again, I'm sure time and more hellbug annihilation will say for sure!
