Seems like they're trying to emulate the success of the Mechwarrior Online founders program which did considerably well for that game.
However, MWO's top tier (at $120) had far more in-game rewards that Dirty Bomb such as $80 worth of in-game credits and 4 mechs which had built in c-bill (the MWO currency) boosts for life.
Dirty Bomb's equivalent tier is woeful in comparison. A soundtrack, art and a t-shirt?
MWO saw success with their founders program I think because it is a well loved PC franchise and people wanted to be a part of it.
I'm not sure the same can be said for Dirty Bomb... I'll wait until it's free.
