Are you more interested in a game which takes place before or after the existing trilogy, asks Hudson.

They could easily set it in the same Galaxy in the same time-period just by having Pam Ewing waking up on earth and saying she dreamed the first 3 games. Cue Shepard stepping out of the shower etc.

Personally I'd rather see a new IP from the same team rather than Mass Effect 4, 5, 6 and inevitable spinoffs (Mako Racing, Reaper vs Alliance RTS, Krogan x WWE and so on). All the innovations - conversation wheels, Paragon/Renegade systems, genuinely good space-opera RPG, fantastically unique environments - have lost their sheen and are now getting rather too familiar.

There's still tonnes of epic lore to be squeezed from the universe they've created, I just don't want to suffer through more 'get behind cover move your party members select a skill use it shoot at heads move to next area have a conversation rinse and repeat' gameplay to discover it.

So EA are asking people what to do next in the story...

Have they never seen most of the terrible fan stories/ideas of anything on the net!

After really prequel would most likely mean playing as Anderson and I'd rather not.

Personally, I love the Mass Effect series and the universe Bioware have created. I would openly welcome another addition to the series, but I'm not sure a prequel would help. In a worse case scenerio, a prequel (or series of prequels) it/they could turn out to be like the Star Wars prequels.

The Mass Effect universe is vast and incredibly well crafted so I think they could launch a new story with new characters. I also think they could make the setting before the events of the ME series to help flesh out the details regarding the Krogan Rebellions, the Earth-Turian war, the Quarian-Geth conflict, etc. I'd really like to see the main character actually be one of the alien races, with a human side character to help bring familiarity with Earth cultures while playing as a character that has it's own cultural aspects and play styles.

Also, I WANT LOOT! All those lockers, crates, bad guys with big 'shooty-guns' and there was nothing in the way of proper loot in the original series. Except ME1, which, when I replayed it a year back, almost had a unintentional loot system (at least it felt unintentional).

What I don't want to see is the Mass Effect series being turned into a bloomin' MMORPG!

Oh dear! We're relying on a rabid fanbase for ideas now?
    Talk about creatively bankrupt.
