I think the reason some people were disappointed in the game was in some way down to the levelling system. For most people (like me) the system sound great because of the idea that nearly everytime you level up you unlock something. It makes someone who new to the franchise to have a great experience with the abilities and the depth of the rune system.

On the other hand though, the most dedicated people from Diablo 2, would play this game max out each classes level to 60 and pretty much will see this as the game ending quickly. The dedicated form Diablo 2 spent years working out the what skills did the best DPS, how many points to spend on any one skill or stat to maximise the characters efficiency. They've over a decade working out different builds for each class in that game, experimenting to the finest detail and playing PvP. So when they came to Diablo 3 they expected all that but better and what they got was everything handed to them on a platter by the time they reach level cap, and no PvP support at launch.

I think Diablo 3 is a great game, the one in Blizzard's arsenal that has the widest range of appeal. But, I guess that isn't what the people who have been playing Diablo 2 for ten years wanted.

    This game...
I've never actually played a Blizzard game in depth, this one had me hooked for a good 60ish hours.
In fact, I played it so often that when I would shut my eyes to sleep i'd see my wizard dungeon crawling and collecting loot, it really did scare me.
