Killzone 3 Review

As a technical showcase, Killzone 3's campaign is a marvel; as a six-hour slice of interactive entertainment, it's a definite disappointment.

A SEVEN! SEVEN!? ONLY SEVEN!!!

Looks like they haven't fixed the inherent problems with single player.

Killzone 2 was one of my favorite games purely for the multiplayer. It's a shame that you only got to play 30 minutes of it. Last time round, it was a deep, rewarding experience. If it's only half as good this time round, it will still be a winner.

I'm still getting it.

EDIT: Complete review now an eight out of ten.

Like I say in the review, that wasn't something we had any say over. I'll be reviewing the multiplayer and factoring that in to this review, but it looks like we'll be doing it when the game's out.

It's a pain that we have to do things this way, but I won't review the multi on the basis of such brief exposure, not when it's such a big part of the game.

Blimey.

What is up with platform exclusives lately? They all used to be fantastic, whereas recent releases have all been a bit, as the reviews have all mentioned, bland.

GhostDog you bumface, there I was reading casually and I reach the bottom of the first page and you're shouting out the score spoiler-boy!

Kinda saw it coming on page one though, if the graphics are the only decent bit... anyway, I'll go back to reading now. Big hug everyone!

I feel reviewing the single play is going to hurt this review to much, its like reviewing any Call of Duty on the single player, I thought your review was the start of something bad but other reviews are sticking with 9 plus and it seems the MP is the main factor. (the N4G article comments are looking fun)

Massive respect for keeping multiplayer out of the review until you've had enough time to truly appraise it. The only alternative is holding the review until you've had enough time, but I imagine that's not a particularly good option either.

I'm not sure what Sony were hoping would happen with that 'review' event. Did they think people would just review the MP based on 30 minutes play? At a quick glance, it seems like other publications might have done just that. Am I to understand this event was yesterday as well? ONE day before the embargo lifts? I'm hardly an expert on the subject, but it sounds like they're either woefully unprepared, expecting everyone to make up positive words because it's a massive game, or aren't confident in their product.

I have to wonder if KZ2 was re-reviewed now if it too would get a 7 instead of a 9, as a lot of the flaws mentioned here are also apparent in that game, (unlikeable characters, lack of plot, linear etc.). Not to say that I didn't enjoy KZ2, because I did and I'm pretty sure I will enjoy this game too.
I have to admit to being a bit disapointed as I was really looking forward to this release and had exceptionally high hopes for it.
I think this highlights a point that over the 2 years since KZ2 was released the bar has been raised on games and that as much as we all like a game to be graphically stunning we have reached the point that we definatley need more than just good visuals to be satisfied now.
I just pray that as far as the Sony exclusives go that UC3 doesn't falter!
