I'm finding the game to be more worthy of an '8' - especially given VG.com assigned Shadows a '7', and this is a far superior title in every regard.

I'm quite looking forward to having this in my collection. I enjoy a lot of Japanese action games. More often than not the actual gameplay misses the mark. But, I think I keep and enjoy a lot of them for their visual design and style (also why I kept Kane & Lynch 2).

As a side note, I really enjoyed the first few paragraphs in which the reviewer gives a personal insight into the games possible underlying message. Nice touch.

She says "you're already dead" to a a zombie in the same fashion Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star says it, i'm happy.

Paid £20 for Shadows of the Damned - still felt ripped off.

Paid £30 for Lollipop Chainsaw - cannot recommend it highly enough.

I know you don't like it, but didn't loads of people spend all of last year saying we should play Shadows of the Damned?

I haven't played it, mind. I have no perspective.

I don't recall anyone really advocating the game last year... I was looking forward to it, until I started playing - a highly repetitive Resi Evil wannabe-style game, which could have been developed in many more ways. I honesly cannot recommend it as a game. The last Suda title I had played was Killer7, so that probably didn't help my personal critical reception.

But over-linearity is a criticism that can be levelled at 99% of Eastern-designed titles. At least LC wears its score-attack gameplay proudly.
