Was it big enough to get a good effect off or do you think a bigger TV would be better?

Bigger is always better but 40" was more than enough to experience the effect. We sat closer than we usualy do to as it was in front of the regular TV we game on.

Sounds expensive! I can't see a regular gamer like myself owning something like this for many years.

Sony needs more than support from AAA games, it needs support from TV as well, and a lot of patience. Its going to take more than just good games for people to spend the extra money on a 3D TV. If TV provides good 3D services, that along with gaming, 3D in bluray, may be enough to get people to upgrade, or at least go 3D when they plan to buy the next tv.
