In the end whilst surprising at first to see a port happen so soon after the original release, there is sense behind it. Three resident evil games were released last year and the handheld one was received the best critically by a substantial margin. People liked it's focus on feeling more like the classic games, especially when compared to RE6 or Racoon City.

Unfortunately it was released in a time where the 3DS was just getting over it's poor early sales, so I doubt it did well at retail. If the 3DS game had been released now, with the 3DS being in far better situation (30 million units sold after 2 years and with a library of great games coming to continue to sell more units) revelations would of sold much better.

Porting this game to consoles, allows Capcom to cash in on this being the best RE game in a while, make up for whatever it sold on 3DS, with the guarantee that it will probably fair much better in reviews then RE6 at least.

Nice review Andi, it was good read!

I'm actually a few hours through the 3DS version now. I'm really enjoying it, but the bullet sponge enemies are a bit draining to play against. I'm never quite sure if I'm hitting them in the right place, or even hitting them at all (does it even matter where I hit them?). This game highlights the importance of reactive enemies.

Like Munkee, the demo portrayed the enemies as real bullet sponges, with headshots (seemingly) making no difference to the damage dealt at all. :-/

That said, I will purchase once it comes down to around £15 - been hankering to replay a good classical RE game for a while now.
