SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection Review

SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection is well worth your money. Gamers brought up on the likes of Halo and Call of Duty might struggle to see what's so great here, but that's their loss.

With SFIV coming this has to wait I'm afraid, though I might trade in some un-wanted games. Shinobi!!!! that was the game I was trying to think of in one of the threads. That was the truly the grandfather of Ninja games.

Nice review, as I'll most probably play Sonic, Street of Rage, Shinobi and Golden Axe. Still no signs of Eternal Champions, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

MegaDrive versions of SFII were all well below the quality of the SNES ones, although they did have the benefit of the SEGA 6B control pad. I would say we are not really missing out not having them on this compilation.

What would have made me buy this:
-The inclusion of Mega CD or 32x games (Virtua Racing, Star Wars Arcade etc)
-A 'museum' with more info, videos, adverts for the games etc, maybe in 3D

Shining Force 2! One of the great classic JRPGs. Id buy this for that alone having spent many many hours playing that game when a spotty teenager. It would be good to play again now that Im a fat thirtysomething.

Ditto! Also looking forward to hearing the Green Hill Zone music again from Sonic and just chilling out with Ecco. To me this package is an awesome little retro-fix that saves me a trip to the loft and having to unplug stuff to play it.

shinobi - thought this was revenge of the shinobi, many hours spent in my youth trying and failing to fully complete this, also, would of liked desert strike, oh how much fun i used to have playing that! honestly tho, this is a great little package if you want to have to have both nostalgia and some old school retro gaming!

Pblive, I agree with 32x virtua racing, I spent days perfecting my skills on that purely for the enjoyment of watching my friends faces as i destroyed them race after race... funny enough they stopped playing after a while. Also eternal champions on the mega cd was brilliant, would be interesting to see how good that would be today!
