Back in the 90s the Sonic versus Mario debate raged across the planet's playgrounds. Nowadays, there is no argument, and it's because of games like Sonic and the Black Knight.

Shame. I liked the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed, it was far better than the PS3 and 360 versions, even Sonic and the Secret Rings was ok. But it looks as if they've gone badly wrong here.

All they need is a game made up of the day levels from Sonic Unleashed, mixed with the party mode from Sonic and the secret rings (as a seperate game mode) and a multiplayer online race mode and they have a winner.

I will tell you what the BEANO MAX said.

After SONIC AND THE SECRET RINGS took us through the world of the Arabian Nights, this time Sega's furry blue speedster races helter- skelter into the medieval world of King Arthur and his Knights of the round table.
      And Merlin's a girl!

If you've played SONIC UNLEASHED you'll feel at home here. Once you get into the way of hitting A to jump at the right moment you're basically there, as the swordplay is often waving the remote to get an early blow in. Not hard, but it can feel a bit woolly- Sonic the sheep insted of Sonic the hedgehog! You can block against bigger enemies with an energy sheild, and build up 'Surge' for a massive fury attack.

However, faries have replaced the usual Sonic elements of rings and pads! The fastest hedgehog of all time and your powerful sword will zip about the place collecting FAIRIES! Really! Sonic is all about the SPEED and the start/stop nature of the sword-fighting gets in the way of real sense of white- knuckle- edge- of the -seat racing. Sonic completists will snap it up, but for the rest of us it might be a case of "Fairy Nuff."
