| I agree with your criticisms in the review. The AI is weak with the exception of a few challenge modes where your opponents get a decent head start and are really difficult to catch up. Im in the PAL region, but luckily i got my hands on the US version. Im glad i did cuz this games looks simply stunning running in 1080i, its quite unbeleivable that the ps2 can churn out such a high resolution.
Although the racing is quite dull, dont let that put you off. Time trial modes are where the game really opens up. Having a whole track to yourself in a 200+mph bike is the business. the gameplay is so fluid, precise and natural. Although it hardly replicates real motorcycle riding, its certainly the closest you'll get on your antique ps2. I am a huge gran turismo fan and for me to be on the edge of saying that this plays better than GT says something. Once you re-learn the racing lines/braking points on the usual tracks you will not want to put this down.
A great effort from those at polyphony and i cant wait for the next gen version. for now though, this will do me nicely and will put my 360 into early retirement :) |
