This just goes to show that a lot of people are legitimately brainwashed into thinking the Xbox One's technical specs are that distant from the PS4 that they are actually seeing flaws that are not there. It's completely psychological. It's like the recent study that proved that all these years, all Froot Loops tasted the same despite the colour difference. So many people were convinced that they were different flavours. I would love to do a side by side video of a multiplat game for the Xbox One and PS4, but either not label them forcing the viewer to identify the console, or maybe mislabel them by saying the PS4 side is actually the Xbox One and vice-versa.

Wow, you've really coined the use of that phrase there. Great job.

Yeah I'm still scratching my head over that one. Though my argument still stands. I still don't have either one yet as I haven't made my decision. I don't have any brand loyalty, but I am getting annoyed by all the console chest pounding going on. I fail to see the benefit of ragging on someone else's console choice. Will you receive any monetary prize for every PS4 sold? If you're happy with your purchase and are 100% certain of it's "domination", why bother spending your time on these boards pushing your opinion further. Let everyone form their own opinion. A friend of mine has both consoles and absolutely loves them both for their own unique qualities and has advised me that gaming is great on both.

My biggest concern right now is that if I end up choosing the Xbox One and if it ends up failing and I'm out my money, it won't be because of the console, but rather because of this false perception the general public has of the console without ever actually using it.

Neither of them has a remote chance of 'failing' considering how many have been sold and continue to be sold and all third parties heavily relying on them both. Whichever one you buy will be guaranteed fun for at least another 7 years.

I'd be inclined to agree but after looking at the WiiU which has about 5 or so million units sold globally and looking like it is almost done makes me worried about the industry in general. If only one console survives, the consumer will be the big loser out of it because there's nothing worse than a monopoly.

I wouldn't call it brand loyalty, as I was a 360 exclusive gamer last gen. To be honest all the stuff with DRM and no used sales 24hour check in, forced Kinect etc.. left a really bad taste in my mouth as I would of probably continued into next gen as a xbox gamer. But I felt betrayed and insulted by Microsoft and swore to never support them in the console business again.
It has just so happened that luckily my switch back to Sony has come at the time when Sony seem to be head and shoulders above Microsoft this gen/next gen as they have the superior machine for less money and their business practices such as ps+ are so much more consumer friendly.
In short, I now despise Microsoft with a vengeance, and will take every opportunity to boast about Sony's superiority and to educate other gamers that the PS4 is the superior machine and more geared towards the gamer, not the dudebro.
So yes I do see this gen already as playstation domination due to the sales of the playstation in usa and uk which are xbox strongholds. The rest of Europe and asia are always dominated by the playstation.
So I would not call it brand loyalty, but I would call it payback with how Microsoft tried to screw me and every other hardcore gamer over.

I have disdain for both Sony and Microsoft, which just further enhances my lack of loyalty to either and why I haven't purchased either yet. Frankly when one does something good for the consumer, it's always in response to the other. PS+ was conceived at a time when 360 was dominating the market. MS did games for gold in response to PS+. MS trying to push the discless format was actually a good thing in my eyes, just implemented VERY poorly. It's no different than the Steam model, which now has a console of their own just going to show that the model will work in the console market. Of course going discless did require an online connection to avoid piracy efforts. I blame the execs in charge at the time for quite frankly the worst PR work I've EVER seen. I often like to refer to the PS4 as the Sony console that MS built because Sony wouldn't release any details about the machine until MS released it about the One, then Sony would trump it just enough to make them look good. Everyone forgets that Sony had patented the discless model as well, but after seeing the backlash MS received, dropped it. It was clever marketing on the part of Sony.

As for the Kinect thing, I viewed it as a do or die for the Kinect because if it wasn't made mandatory it would never sell and since MS was trying to make this all in one media machine, it would've been impossible to implement all the necessary pieces using a controller alone, hence the voice requirement.

Well you didn't take the betrayal from Microsoft that badly, and many other gamers will share similar views as you, but Microsoft offer nothing for me now I have ZERO interest in motion control gaming, ZERO interest in a console that plays t.v, (my terabyte sky hd box works fine thankyou). I want a gaming console for gaming.
And Sonys console is far superior in that regard and better value. PS+ is a superb service and *****s all over games with gold.
The xbox offers nothing to me now and after the ass ***** Microsoft tried to give me, (as I live in a rural area) I will continue to despise them and want to see them fall, and I will comment on every article that shows the Playsations dominance and superiority over the xbox one.
