Not sure if that is a good start for how MS are going approach extending the lifespan of the 360.

Depends on how you look at it, optimistically it's a good example of how much powerful the XBox One is compared to the 360. I'm probably sticking with the 360 for a couple of years before upgrading to next gen, just my backlog alone is enough to keep me going that long. Looking at the 360 releases penned in for 2014/2015 that's probably just as well, as there aren't any currently.
