Health goals
Following on from the discussion I initiated on the forum last week, I had a quick search for a fitness/health/weight loss thread but couldn't find one less than a few years old.

So, I'd like to start a new one. If folk are interested that's cool and if it ends up fading away in two weeks that's no problem either.

I'm currently 6ft and weigh 17.4st/243lbs and need to get down to around 13st/182lbs. I'm getting married this October and I don't want to look at the photos we'll be paying loads for and wished I'd put in the effort to help myself. It's not just for my wedding either, I have quite high blood pressure and there's no doubt in my mind that I'll run into other health issues if I stay this way.

I'm working hard to change the way I look at food and I'm going to the gym a couple of times a week as well as walking at lunch.

Please add me on My Fitness Pal and Nike+ if you're interested in us motivating each other.

If there's a competitive element you'd like to bring into this, such as a voucher or something for the person who has done the best in 6 months, we can think about that if the thread continues. I doubt ShopTo are likely to start dishing out prizes for our flab-fighting though Tongue

So, does anyone have any goals they're looking to reach or anything they want to improve?

I'd like to lose some weight at some point, I'm at 13st but certainly not as high, I need to be nearer to 10-11st but motivation is the issue. I have Ubisoft's Your Shape for Wii U and EA Sports Active 2 for Kinect, but it's a case of actually using them regularly. I don't have enough money to go to a gym, so that's out.

I'm 6ft 3 and about 12.5 stone so it's not too bad. Mainly want to tone up really. I have a gym membership for the gym on campus but just dont have the motivation to walk in the cold to the gym

I'm 5'10 and 12 to 13 stone. I really like my weight at the moment, as I found it hard to put on any weight during my early twenties, no matter how much I ate. Like MrHEWBO I'd ideally like to focus on toning up and strength exercises with weights this year.

I need to do more areobic exercise too, but not looking to run any marathons, just moderately healthy.

Good thread, especially as the weather gets better.

Great stuff guys. As I said, your goal could be anything so toning up, or even walking a bit more during the week or cutting down on crisps, are all totally valid Smile

Feel free to share tips, workout playlists, recipes and more too.

I'm 6'3" and about 15 stone - a lapsed athlete so still plenty of muscle, but not much in the way of tone.

I'm very motivated to do something about it, but tbh there just isn't a time-slot in my day to do it in as it stands.... on weekdays I'm up at or slightly before 6am to get the kids up/ready for nursery etc, then at work all day, then get home to put the kids to bed, cook diner, eat... all that gets done by about 9 then I watch TV with the wife, and afterwards play games til about 11.30. Rinse, repeat, exasperate.

Signed up with a local basketball team last year and got back in shape really quickly, but couldn't afford to keep it up. If anyone's in London I can certainly recommend the site that I used - www.gomammoth.co.uk - does loads of sports throughout London on a social basis, really good place.

So pretty stuck for now. Ho hum!

I might look into Go Mammoth for basketball once I've shed a bit of weight. I used to love playing and I'd like to get back into it.

I've had a pretty full-on weekend of food and booze which couldn't be helped as I was at a wedding. Still, I managed to walk 7+ miles over two days at the weekend to help limit the damage a little. I've been walking on my lunch break at work every day too, usually around 2-3 miles a day. It gets me out and gives me a break, plus it burns at least 300 calories.

I've been eating about 1,600-1,700 calories per day, so with my walking it's coming in at 1,300 - 1,400. I think if I keep this up for a few months I'll see a difference.

Ah going to Kefelonia on Saturday and I'm looking a bit chubby apparently. 24 hours enough time to lose a stone or two.
