Introduce yourself here!
  • where are you from?
  • what consoles do you have?
  • what is your set up? (includes pics if possible!)
I am from London, UK, own a PC, original PlayStation, Megadrive, Mastersystem, and... a sinclair. Yes, I need to get with the times...

My set up is pretty run of the mill being primarily a PC gamer, plus taking a photo of my mastersystem would just be embarrasing Wink

No, Farnborough, which is also very near by. About 20mins away from where I live. There used to be quite a few devs based in the area. Bullfrog had offices in Guildford. I think Lionhead are somewhere in the area too.

Ah thanks I wasn’t 100% sure - I went for an interview at Gizmondo a few months back and I’m glad I didn’t get the job now…

Not just because Gizmondo went belly up, Farnborough's such a dive it makes Coventry look good. I should know, I work in Farnborough occasionally. The only thing it has going for it are the roads to get out! Farnham's not so bad, if a little bit on the quiet side - I used to live there. Great little chinese takeaway by the station, too...

I'm Iain McC, corporate code monkey by day, renegade videogames wordsmith by night! I'm originally from Glasgow, but have been steadily migrating south, and currently reside just outside of Woking in a small town called Lightwater. It's deepest, darkest Surrey, and hence hideously expensive, but you've got to go where the work is, right?

I've been playing videogames since 1984. So yes, I remember when all this was fields. (sic)

I currently have a PC (around 150 games), an Xbox (around 20 games), a Nintendo DS (around a dozen games) and a recently acquired Gamecube (around half a dozen games).

Long-term favourite games include Star Wars: Supremacy, just about anything by Bioware (especially Knights of the Old Republic), World of Warcraft, Project Gotham Racing 2, Half-Life 2 and the first couple of X-Com games.

Current favourites include GTR and Neverwinter Nights (not sure why I started playing that again, possibly in anticipation of the sequel due later this year) on PC, Animal Crossing and Phoenix Wright on DS, plus Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube. Not touched the Xbrick in a while - though PGR2 usually gets a weekly thrash around the Nurburgring. Ahhh, sweet, sweet Nordschleife!

Hello

Where to begin?

I live in rural Arizona USA. Been PC gaming since Castle Wolfenstein came out. Before that it was with Nintendo with my kids (since grown). My daughter has since bought a PS2 and she will sometimes let me play her "Tekken 4" on it. By the way, she beats her older brother all the time.

Dont have a true "gaming rig", just a HP Pavilion 504 2 gig for the business and for any PC gaming I may want to do. Went from Wolfenstein to DOOM, Quake, Hexen, Heretic (both 1&2). RTS like WarCraft (all three) and StarCraft. RPG like Baldur's Gate (have "Planescape Torment" still on my computer.) and right now Dungeon Siege. But Adventure and other game genres too. Tetris and their ilk..no. I tried "Laura Croft" when it first came out but the controls were frustrating to me then. "Heretic 2" were not nearly as bad. Then I found "RUNE".

Since February 2000, I have been co Admin for Runegame.com. I was looking for Viking PC games when I found out about Human Head Studios' 3rd person actioner "RUNE" through a 3DActionplanet article by Kazi_Wren. Followed the link to her Offically Sanctioned Fansite called "Ragnarok" at the time. Just before the game's release, the site's name was changed to "RuneGame.com" and became the offical website. Being a history reenactor, a history buff and an action gamer, the Viking Age based game "RUNE" looked wonderful. Got to know the HH guys through Kazi and helped act as of their historical research sources. Later was asked to become moderator and then co Admin. When not doing that, I act as resident "Viking Answer Lady" with a board, "The Vikings", to field any questions and post info. Even posted some additional Viking Lore articles including one called "Warrior Women"

There are quite afew women/girl gamers who play the fastpaced, melee style MP in the various DM, TM, CTT and Co-op modes. The community is a small one but fiercely loyal with plenty of talented modders and makers. I learned alot more about PC gaming from this lively community. That maturity can be found in the youngest just as immaturity in the older ones. I think I am the oldest one there at age 54.

By the way, we are all rooting for Human Head's "Prey" to come out.

In the meantime, when not playing PC games. I act as historical research, artist designer and executor for a 50 year historical Arms & Armour business with my husband (he started this that long ago) We met each other as members of the Society for Creative Anachronism and married 34 years ago. Raise small animals (Nigerian Dwarf goats, chickens, ducks, geese and a couple of peacocks) Raised two children to adulthood (24&20) who also play console or PC games.

Being a parent of gamers, it is my firm belief that parents should know what is going on and dont assume to use PC games as a "babysitter". For parents to look at what is being played and to get what is proper for their children's ages. But in saying this, real life violence and gaming Do Not go "hand in hand". When RUNE first came out, we had some parents come into our forums protesting it's violence and "gore". (it is marked "age 17") But unless their child is very young, the vast majority do know the difference. Besides, I see more language and violence at stadium games....amongst the parents. But that is fuel for a whole other seperate subject thread.

Ummm. Yeah, I post long messeges sometimes WinkLast edited on Sun 28 May 2006 by Deepminded

Welcome back to me!

I joined up not long after the site was opened but wasn't able to stay for long.
Spotted a quality review of Driver 4 on Metacritic and noticed that it came from here and decided to pop back to see how things had progressed.

How this place has changed and all for the good! The main site is superb and the forum really has come alive.

Cograts to all the Pro-G team on a job well done and I look forward to hanging around here a lot more from now on.
