| I don't have an iPhone, but it's nothing to do with the functionality, i just plain dislike the aesthetics. I prefer clean smooth lines, the iPhone feels like a bubble-slab and looks like some dodgy knock-off korean toy.
I also dislike iTunes as a whole, but the genuis suggesting similar tracks from the iTunes store is a good feature. Though i suspect the Zune store (I use the Zune media library program) has something similar if it weren't restricted to US only.
You can still just drop MP3s and such on an iPhone as i recall, it still appears as a connected device and you can drop stuff on it. You just need iTunes to connect your phone (last i checked) so they pretty much force you to have it in the first instance.
Threads like this imply comparison discussion and all the poo flinging duely associated :P |

| Doesn't Genius just use songs in your library? In which case Zune has something similar, but for individual artists rather than your entire library. I'm using Zune right this second, makes all other media players unworthy to be on my computer :P
I also REALLY can't wait for Zune social to be implemented in this region >_< |

| No Genuis will suggest stuff from the iStore that you don't already own based on what is in your own library. You can then listen to a preview of whatever it suggests and buy it if you like what you hear, all without leaving your own library view.
Zune has the Smart playlist feature or whatever, which was what Genius began as, just relating things together via names and genres etc.
I don't see why they can't open the region restrictions on the Zune store, it's probably to do with American artists with american record labels restricting where their music can be purchased or heard. Just like YouTube. |

| Oh I didn't know Genius did that now! hmmm. I'll give it a go later, but last time I used it it was compleeetely off the mark. I don't think it understands the difference between rock and metal :P
I imagine Zune marketplace is to do with licensing issues, but then we're getting Zune videos over here on XBL so I imagine it's only a matter of time. |

| I currently own 2 PCs, a custom-built desktop and an almost mid-range laptop, both running Vista-32 (my favourite OS atm, haven't tried 7 yet) and if i am diagnosed with dyspraxia (a condition which affects thought processes and handwriting) then i will also get a 10.1" netbook thing for schoolwork, running 7. I love PCs and Microsoft products across the board. the only reason i don't have a phone running windows mobile is the price, and the only reason i don't own a Zune is because the iPod touch is so damn good!
Yesterday i discovered something that reinforced my desire of owning an iPhone. There is an app for Spotify. For those of you that don't know, Spotify is a music streaming service, with a library rapidly approaching the size of the iTunes catalogue. For the app, you need a premium subscription (which i have anyway) which grants you unlimited ad-free access, and allows you to download up to 3300 tracks to your hard drive for offline listening. This means i'll be paying a tenner a month for virtually unlimited music, accessible through the 3G network, and available to download to the iPhone's memory. This isn't so much a point for Apple though, as a point for Spotify.. |
