Anyone playing Watch Dogs?
Got my copy today, I'm enjoying it I think it's pretty fun. Smile

Curious if anyone else is playing it? What do you think?

Currently I'm trying to play the online mode, doesn't seem to be working. However that may just be my connection.

Yeah, it's pretty good. Not fantastic in a 'next gen' sense, but fun to play and I love the spider trip game.

Yeah I'm really enjoying it. Way better than I thought it was going to be to be honest, the Spider trip is awesome.

To be honest I'm not really sure what a 'next gen' game is going to be; better graphics? faster loading? no loading screens? all of the above?

But I agree, wouldn't really call it 'next gen', however its very pretty and has barely any loading screens (well on PS4 at least).

I see 'next gen' as being a better presented 'living world' in sandbox games.

As much as it's about things like draw distance, frame rates and textures (all of which help the immersive experience) it should be things like being able to enter more houses, each with signs of daily lives, having long term reactions to your actions, having people remember you when you hold conversations with NPCs.

Maybe we need quantum computing before we can go that far, but I feel that some of it can be implemented now.

Yea I guess I'd agree with that, Watch Dogs or any open world game really would feel much more alive if the NPC's had more of a life. While Watch Dogs does have NPC's crashing and causing accidents in cars which is kind of cool they then just get out and stand there and do nothing which for example kind of breaks the immersion. There are loads of those kind of tiny things in all free roam games, so close yet just no.

If NPC's could interact naturally with other NPC's (if some one was injured or helping someone) or if they had their own lives (Going to jobs, going home, routines ect.) However that seems like that would be pretty damn hard for big open world games. But being able to enter any building would be great seems like we're pretty close to that happening.

Currently playing it, and sort of disappointed, to be honest. I really like the online one vs one hacking, but everything else seems to dour and dull. Additionally, Chicago just doesn't have an identity in this game. I can distinctly recall specific neighborhoods in Los Santos, Liberty City, and Hong Kong from GTA and San Andreas, but all of Chicago just blurs together in this game.

I'd say it's a 7/10

Thats fair enough I'd say, I wasn't enjoying the story greatly until near the end to be honest (I think the plot picks up and gets waaay better as it goes on), and the whole niece & nephew/brother & sister relationship thing that goes on fit and made more sense to me as it went on. I agree with the Chicago thing, however I think thats more of an issue with the city than the game. There is the country area, industrial area and city bit but other than that it blurs together. I'm not sure why they picked Chicago to be honest it doesn't really stand out too much and because they're going for that realistic imagery it means it looks kinda grey a lot.

I've still really enjoyed it though, just finished the main game and concerned theres not much to do once you've finished it I am enjoying the multiplayer too, now that its working. It's a decent game but I can get why some people find it boring and also why some seem to love it.

Take it you didn't enjoy it? lol How much have you played?

And I haven't experienced a lot of those things the video comments on, also a lot of those things aren't true. But it is still not perfect and there are loads of little things I notice that don't make sense and are just kinda bad. I still like it though, overall its a good game I think.

Definitely no where near perfect or next gen though.

Just saw thats for PC, I'd probably be disappointed if thats the highest settings and such for a PC at least the PS4 has the excuse of it being dumbed down for last gen consoles.

To be honest there are lots of little things that do just feel unfinished and generally unpolished.
