| Me and my friend have been arguing over which RPG developer is better: Bethesda or Square Enix. He's a hardcore WoW fan, and isn't in to games that don't have some multiplayer aspect, and also doesn't do much console gaming, so he's not too familiar with this kind of stuff. So, please share your opinion on which is a better game developer. All useful comments are appreciated. |

| Bethesda is better at open worlds.
Square Enix is better at westernised-JRPGs.
Atlus is better at offline grindfests.
TriAce is better at action-JRPGs.
Blizzard is better at multiplayer.
Bioware is better at emotional engagement.
Level-5 is better at characterisation.
Lionhead is better at casual/comedy.
Rockstar has the greatest potential if it went into the MMORPG genre.

| FM sorry but the last comment about Rockstar is all wrong. Imagine the potential of Pokemon if it went into the MMORPG genre. |

| GameFreak, Bioware, Bethesda.
There's no point comparing Bethesda and Squeenix. They're both flagship developers of their respective sub-genres of the RPG, two which have too many differences to make a comparison worthwhile. |

| I'd second Woffls in his proclamation that GameFreak stand tallest of all. That being said, my favourite RPGs ever remain the pre-Enix SquareSoft titles Secret of Mana and Vagrant Story. And I would also happily put Climax (Shining Force, Landstalker, etc.) and Nintendo ( Zelda, nuff said) forward for ARPG consideration. |

| Good point, Zelda is an amazing RPG but I think Modern Warfare 2 is better. IW make the best RPGs. |

| im disagreeing on that fact, i find that IW needs to get better at story telling and not having linear story lines. you can finish MW and MW2 in probably 4 hours each, while Square Enix titles take a lot longer, Zelda takes a lot longer, and Pokemon, if you just beat all the gyms and ***** then its fairly short but to do EVERYTHING, it could take you 200+ hours. (personal experience). |
