Hello all! I just wanted to start a discussion any games that broke anyone or actually made you feel anything other than "that was ok", The most prominent one I can think of is Spec Ops: The Line. I would love to see other games that can cause a take away experience that stay's with you.

The Last Of Us is that game for me... I was so invested in the story, and (without wanting to post spoilers) certain parts were utterly jaw-dropping! Pair that with the fact that it had some great gameplay mechanics (crafting in particular) and that it was one of the best looking games of last gen, I struggle to think of anything that's even come close.

There's certain parts in games that make me almost happily tear up and feel proud to see. It's when it gets it so right, I can't really explain it but TLOU, Metal Gear games, Bioshock etc are some games that have made me feel immensely proud to be a gamer and have the fortune to play these experiences

Final Fantasy 6 - Kefka was pretty much the first Videogame-Thing that ever broke me. If you wanna know why, play the Game... ^^
Majoras Mask - That Game hunted me, it made me confused, scared and desperate like no other Game before. Even had a terrible Nightmare, it is still the only Game that ever appeared in my Dreams (or at least the only one I could still remember when I was awake).
The Walking Dead (Season 1) - I don't even want to play it ever again. Like never ever, that normaly don't happend with Games I consider to be great.
I just couldn't stop crying, I never shed so many Tears in such a short Time. It so heartbreaking and all, I really can't play that again.
Thats the three that jumps to my mind right away. Maybe there was something else, I don't know.

I have to agree with Spec Ops. Its funny, it just looked like another BS 3rd person shooter. It popped up on PS+, so I downloaded it; then finished it in one sitting.
The last time I bore witness to anything that contradicted my expectations in this genera was Apocalypse Now!

There's a lot of games where you have to (or feel the need to) make tough choices but the characters and their actions in the Walking Dead were so grounded in reality it made every single one of your choices, big or small, that much more powerful for me. It really went above and beyond in that aspect.

when i was younger i played full spectrum warrior 2 on the ps2. I was really bad at it because i couldn't comprehend strategy and for a few days i had recurring nightmares about my squad dying. My mom then decided to stop me playing. No other game has affected me like that.
