Pokémon Heart Gold & Soul Silver Discussion
Well, I don't think I could be more excited for this game so I figured I'd make a thread about it. There's actually a ton of stuff I didn't realise about this game that I'm only just now gathering from the various US reviews that are surfacing. Stuff like...

- The game includes not just the Johto region from the original Gold and Silver but also the whole of Kanto from the origional Blue and Red versions! This means you've got 16 badges to win and you can visit old haunts like Palet Town and Viridian Forrest.

- I knew that the first pokémon in your team followed you around the world as you walked but I didn't realise that they were done to scale - from the GamePro review... "Tiny Pokemon like the bug-type Caterpie will be appropriately dwarfed by everything else on the screen, while mammoth-sized dragons like Gyarados will loom over your relatively small avatar."

- "If you listen closely, you'll even notice that the sound effects in Pokemon battles have been wisely tweaked. Actions occurring on your Pokemon's side of the screen are delegated to the left speaker, while your opponent's actions are mapped to the right speaker; to get the full effect, try playing the game with headphones."

- Between HeartGold & SoulSilver, almost all the currently available Pokémon are obtainable, barring most of the legendaries and starters introduced in Pokémon Diamond & Pokémon Pearl. Thats like 450 monsters without the need for old versions.

I do want Pokemon SoulSilver. God Of War III is stopping me getting it on launch plus I won't have £30 quid spare for the game either, so hopefully I will have ladyluck on my side near around the launch day!

Johto region is going to bring back some great memories. I cannot wait till I get SS.

I reckon every muh*****a is going for Silver so I put my coin down for Gold. Pre-ordered from Game.co.uk as you get a little toy/figure thing that will sit nicely on my desk with my various other toys.

Agreed, I am also, very excited for this game. The main thing that is putting me off is the price tag, of £30. And this is so because, I could pay my £30 for my little portable DS game, or I could pay an extra tenner for something like God of War 3, which has really put me off. But I will get it, as soon as possible.

With Gold / Silver, I found the setting too, familiar. And this made me dislike this series, also the encounters with Team Rocket, was pretty monotomous. I that they have addressed this issue.

I'm just wondering what else they can do with ther Pokemon franchise, on the DS. I think that it needs a reboot, to get people intrested in it again.

Ah well, I doubt that it'll be better than Pokémon Yellow, which is my favourite, but that had alot working for it. The most of which, is that the game was fresh, something new.

Aye, I pre-ordered with GAME.co.uk with Pokemon Platinum and I got a Garatina figure as part of the pre-order bonus. This time I won't be as I'm not really bothered about the figure. £29.99 from Shopto.net and I think GAME.co.uk is selling it 14p dearer, so I'll most probably get it from Shopto.net whenever the day I get it.

Double reward points will get you more value than 14p I would say.

As an aside is it just me or is ShopTo.net the ugliest goddamn retail website out there? It's like blind chimps designed it.

I'm with you for that. It puts a load of people off as they think it's a hoax/fishing site. My first ecommerce website 101.
