PS Vita - Games to Buy / Avoid
Well, I'm taking the plunge and getting a Vita.

There's a good few games I've got my eye on (MGS HD, FFX HD and a few indies) and also grabbed a couple off PS+ recently.

So, just looking for games that you guys think I should definitely go for and should stay as far away from as possible.

TIA

Buy:
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation - a good spin off from ACIII with a unique character and story

Need for Speed Most Wanted - Pretty much the full console version shrunk down to a handheld

Spelunky - Just because.

Dead or Alive 5 - again, perfect console port

Uncharted/Gravity Rush - possibly still on PS+ but still great games

Lumines - best puzzle game this side of Tetris. VG review summed it up by saying 'it gives you hemorroids' (you need to read the review to see why)

Sly Cooper Thieves in Time - Great cross-platform game

Guacamelee - Excellent cross platform platformer

Pixeljunk Monsters - It's an HD remake of the PSP game but worth getting if you haven't played the original as it's one of the best Tower Defence games out there.

Velocity Ultra - mad retro space shooter thingy

Rayman Origins/Legends - Stunning on any platform but there are Vita specific sections and controls so worth getting to play on the move.

Sound Shapes - quirky cross-platform music based platformer

LBP Vita - Assuming you like LBP

Wipeout 2048 - Very good and if you have Fury and HD you get those included as add-ons for the Vita game.

Don't Buy
Modnation Racers - it's mediocre

Asphalt Injection - a free mobile game with added Vita controls. Not a bad game, but it's pretty much the same as the free version.

Ridge Racer - I do like it, but there are only 3 tracks in the standard edition and it doesn't feel like a complete game.

Little Deviants - demo for the touch features, basically.

FIFA is an odd one, the first game is good, FIFA 13 is the first game with just new teams and a higher price, so if you can find the first FIFA Football dirt cheap (and like footie games) get that.

bear in mind you may have some of these already if you bought them on PS3 and they are cross-buy

...also, hope you're getting a hefty memory card for these. Minimum 16GB I'd say.

You shouldn't get Call of Duty: Declassified either, that is if you like happen to like Call of Duty.
(spoiler for more info)
Show Spoiler The campaign is to much of a spec ops mode that isn't fun and the multiplayer isn't played much nor is it actually fun. The only good side is that it does have a sorta good survival mode that is just like the MP but better.

Thanks for the recommendations Smile

Fifa I'll avoid as I just can't stand football.

Already DL'd Uncharted & Gravity Rush off PSN, as well as Street Fighter X Tekken & Touch My Katamari.

I'm getting the deal from Tesco that includes the 10 game pack & an 8GB card (by the time I include my Clubcard vouchers I'm getting it for £114!) but I'll probably get another card too.

Cheers for the info

The Vita will be used mostly on my commute, so single player puzzle games/RPG etc are what I'll be playing.

I like FPS games, but I've got the PS3 for that really.

Don't forget about all the cheap PSP games it plays too. Stuff like Gran Turismo PSP still looks great on it and you've got both the GTA Stories games as well.

Motorstorm RC is coming to PS Plus next and that's a cracker.

From what you've downloaded, Uncharted and Gravity Rush are both excellent so start with them. Street Fighter is good and Katamari is as quirky as ever.

From what pb's list, I'd pick out NFS Most Wanted, Wipeout and Rayman.

Everybody's Golf and Virtua Tennis are both very good if you want a sports game that isn't FIFA.

Zen Pinball works very well on the Vita, especially when you rotate the Vita through 90 degrees which allows you to see more of the table.

And LocoRoco (PSP game) is one of the best handheld games ever.
