Oh, God! Let's please not start this debate all over again!!? ( personally I'd go with the PS3 for reliability but there are good cases to be made for either.)

Well o.k. I guess it would possibly depend on money. PS3 is still quite expensive although a price-cut is probably on the cards, certainly by 2010! 360 cheaper but lack of reliability is STILL an issue. Personally I'm still sticking with my PS2 for now and I have the money put away for a PS3, just biding my time really, as have so many PS2 games to play!

Having said that an awful lot could, and almost certainly will, change between now and 2010. For instance, maybe Microsoft will finally fix the 360's reliabilty issues then even I may have a rethink!?( though I'd probably still go with the PS3!?)

Today, basing it purely on games, I am still telling people in your position to get the 360. However, ask me again in 2010 and you may get a different answer. You may even get a different answer some time in 2009. If you want a media centre then go for the PS3. For the simple reason that it is quieter, let alone the BluRay advantage. (Hint : You don't need BluRay.)

Incidentally, the way things look at the moment, the Wii is going to become the most essential console by the end of the year. Some of the exclusives look really fantastic, and we must be due a price cut soon! All it needs now is for Nintendo to pull one of their traditional rabbits out of the hat at TGS, such as a new Zelda game.

I'd say get a PS3. Simply because it truly shows its a next gen console. Ig nore any statements regarding Lack off games, this is nonesense!

Ps3 has a very easy menu to access all your media and game related tasks. Photos are in the photos tab etc etc. Its easy to setup your online network account, 10 - 15mins your online playing Smile No online fee's, only psn games (same as XBL games) With online gaming on the PS3 you can use any bluetooth headset to talk online, even if the headset came with your mobile phone. And for chat in home or any web browsing on your PS3, you can use most usb keyboards like im doing now Smile

Games wise there's alot of multi format, some dont have the extra content, but im not too fussed cos by the time i completed one game, another is being released. I dont have alot of time to play extra content. There are a range of good exclusives on the PS3, but some are not as good as they should be. The gameplay online does't suffer lag as such, but LBP i find very frustrating sometimes as it unplayable at times. Hopefully it wont last long. (i last went online 3 weeks ago)

Usb slots really isnt an issue as you dont really need more than 2, but you can buy usb hub and more if needed. As for charging the battery, i normally charge one while playing the other, or when im watching blu ray i charge all of them! (if needed) The battery life is quite long, and you get a warning before your close to a paused game. The wireless controllers are great, never had a fault with them. The dual shock is a must as most games support this and the vibration function is quite strong. I leave it on table, and it ends up on the floor when i return lol

Bluray movies are incredibly sharp and near to perfect quality. If is the next format to go for imo, as i watch dvds and now i can see how blurry the edges are compared to movies on bluray. The sound is also top notch. Blu rays are between 9.99 - 17.99. Id advise to look on Ebay, Amazon and Play as they do buy 2 and get 3rd free.

Support is good with the PS3, its getting there slower than expected, but there is support. All games run smoothly, ignore players who say fps gets low and makes the game unplayable. Im sorry but most games experience fps issuse anyway. Just the way games are for the meen time, until devs make games to run smoother.

I cant really comment more than that. Ive been happy with mine and i paid 425 when it came out and i have never felt let down at all. Smile

If you are not buying it until 2010 then it might be best to review both consoles, prices and games available nearer the time you are going to buy one.

I would say that both consoles are excellent, each with their advantages and disadvantages, and provided you can afford one or the other get whichever has a more appealing exclusive line up.

However, to people with a limited budget and who will take either/or, right now the 360 is the natural choice really. Just bear in mind that it doesn't come with wireless internet connection and you have to pay to get the full advantage of Xbox Live. However, like Dav says, if you won't be buying it for a year (premature topic, much?!), wait and see how things look in 12 months (the 360 may have dropped in price a little, the PS3 certainly will have).Last edited on Wed 4 February 2009 by Triggerhappytel

Both good and I cannot be arsed to write loads about the differences between the two.

Dav is correct if your saving up for one in 2010, then your best to research on each console and wait for something to happen with prices cuts and more.

Those that are patience are those that gain better rewards Tongue Thats my wise words for today. Smile
