Wifi Problems
Just posting this here to see if anyone can help.

For some reason my wifi is no longer working, says its identifying for ages then 'unidentified network, no internet access' Since im in halls at uni i can't access the router but everyone else who lives with me hasn't had any problems. I'm using Windows 8 and i've tried restoring the laptop to before the problem occurred but to no avail.

PS I can access the internet via the ethernet in my room

Are you sure you're accessing the right wifi signal?

Have you tried with another device (phone etc)?

Best to check with another device and then either rule out or confirm the fact that its the windows 8 device.

Try disabling and reenabling your network adapter in the Device Manager. Might even go as far as to say try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

Anyways I'm assuming the wi-fi adapter is built-in? It's not something silly like a USB stick thats been unplug is it? If it is a USB stick though try unplugging and re-plugging, or unplugging it, uninstalling the driver, and then re-plug it to force a reinstall of the driver.

Last resort, chuck the laptop and get a new one... that usually helps.

ive disabled and reenabled the adapter (built in). I'll try looking at the driver tomorrow. I'd chuck the laptop if it weren't only 3 months old, even though it's already had a motherboard problem and now this

Urrrg, I hate it when things stop working, especially the PC. Would've been fine if we don't live in such a tech depandent world. Devices have become so complicated too. Back in the day you could pretty much fix everything with a bit of tape and a paperclip.

Anyways good luck bud.

Was it working on Windows 8 before? I only ask as I've already heard 3 people who've had big problems with their wireless connection since they've upgraded to Windows 8.

It's worked for three months and then all of a sudden it's broken. I just did a system restore and that did nothing. Im going home next week so i'll see if it works on my home wifi. If not it looks like i'll be sending it off to Samsung

Sometimes when you have problems with your Wifi connections it's mainly your router compatibility or I.P Address changes, which you can access your routers main options by putting your IP address on your current browser. You might need Admin and password to access your router. Check for any specific connections with certain registry device list or a firewall. With I.P address you might need to call your internet provider to help you tweak your I.P update. :3

Note: if you don't know your I.P address then open up command prompt and type in systeminfo and it will give you all the information on your computer including the I.P.

But before you do all that complications try to do the simple things and try to power down your router for 10 seconds. Reset device you use to access the internet. Make sure if you download torrents or music lol to not seed after you are done with them lol. Can make you connections difficult.
