District 9
Saw this recently with a few of the VideoGamer crew, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful special effects, great action, well shot, well acted and lots of character. Anyone else see this? Any thoughts? Anyone hoping for a sequel?

I'd say it's worth it.
And yes, the ending does leave it open for the potential for a sequel, as do most films aimed at blokes these days. Perhaps it would be called District 10.

Saw it and thought it was pretty good. The thing is this film could just have easily been told without the alient stuff. It just happens to be a sci-fi film about appartheid. It reminded me in some ways of Alien Nation, however that film just touched on the strained relationships between species and used it as more of a backdrop, whereas in District 9 the 'xenophobia' pretty much is the plot.
Sequel? No. It is very good as a stand-alone film and I thinka sequel would belittle the story. The point of this film is that it retells the story of District Six in South Africa. WTF would a sequel be about?
Idea: Perhaps they could capture an alien on the grounds of sabotage and put him in prison for 27 years. Sting then releases a song about him, and amid a surge of world-wide interest he then gets released. He becomes the president of South Africa and gets to meet lots of celebrities (like the Spice Girls).

Amazingly the film was made for only $30 million, yet looked just as impressive as any of the $100+ blockbusters released this summer.
Also, the guy who plays Wikus Van De Merwe is reported to have been offered the part of Howling Mad Murdock in the A-Team movie.

Well I'm gonna be a party pooper and say I didn't like it. I walked out after 40 mins.
