I had a look for a general movie discussion topic, but couldn't see one, so I hope this isn't a duplicate.

Here's what I have seen recently:

Kenny - an Austrailian movie about an everyday nice guy, and his job (of which no-one approves) of cleaning toilets. It's filmed like a 'mockumentary', a la The Office or Spinal Tap. It's really about Kenny's job and the people in his life. A nice film which is definitely worth seeing and has more than a few funny moments. 8/10

Infernal Affairs
- a superb Hong Kong movie about a police mole in a Triad gang and a Triad mole in the police department. As the two moles get closer to being discovered and finding out each other's identities, their cover - and lives in general - begin to fall apart. A really superb crime thriller which is better than pretty much any other film in the genre I can think of (with the exception of Training Day). Utterly superb, you must watch this movie. 9/10

Eagle vs. Shark - a gentle and funny New Zealand film about a geeky but sweet girl and her infatuation for a self-obsessed uber-geek called Jarrod. It's not quite your usual rom-com format - boy meets girl / they have mediocre sex / boy takes girl on road trip so he can beat up a former school bully / boy neglects girl / girl leaves / boy realises how much he took girl for granted. A nice, sweet film with some good lines in it, you'll like this if you like Napoleon Dynamite. 8/10

X-Men 2 - I watched most of this on TV last night. Just a great film with some superb action scenes (the intro is exceptional, as is Stryker's assault on Xavier's mansion), a good plot and very well-judged pacing. Definitely one of the best comic book movies. 9/10

X-Men - I'm very much in the mood for superhero movies at the moment and I have been making my way through my collection. I like this movie; the plot is a little bit pants but it's pretty nicely balanced, the characters are well developed and there are pretty good action scenes. It was superceded in every way by its sequel, but still is a decent entry to the franchise and has lots of superb special effects. 7/10

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - I didn't really think much the first film, but I bought this because it was only £4 in Asda (and because the Silver Surfer is cool). It's not bad. I'm not too keen on the banter and relationships between the foursome, but the action sequences are pretty cool (especially the flying sections with Johnny/SS) and it's got great special effects. The plot is massively OTT though and it's all a little bit silly - I prefer a bit more of a stern presentation. Anyway, not bad at all. 5.5/10

The Usual Suspects - this was my first time watching this movie but unfortunately I already knew who Keyser Soze was (a friend told me years back, the git), and so without the big reveal at the end this was really a fairly routine cop/crime thriller with some good acting but that's about all. 6/10

Terry Pratchett's Hogfather - not a movie per se, but it might as well be. A good, funny, Christmassy film, with some very good special effects and nice little touches of humour (as well as nods to fans of Discworld). The plot got a bit confusing in places (although not helped by the fact I fell asleep part way though and had to re-watch part of episode 1), but all in all I was quite fond of this, and it had a sort of Tim Burtonesque feel to it. Well worth watching if you like The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Discworld books and maybe even the Harry Potter films. 7/10

I can't believe someone spoiled the usual suspects for you! Sad altho even now its still argued who was keyser Soze.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone."

Pineapple Express- I loled. Man this film is funny. Ok so its stupid laid back comedy with some pretty clever stuff. Reminds me of Superbad alot for anyone who was a fan of that. Easy watching and highly quoteable.

Cas- About a well known football hoolligan from the 80's, I believe the movie is converted from one of the books he wrote about his experiences with the Intercity Firm. Was decent enough but I feel this type of film has been done enough by the likes of rise of the footsoldier, football factory and green street. Speaking of which theres a god awful sequel to green street on the way the trailer is horrible.

The mist- adaption of a Stephen King short story. Basically a town has a storm one night and a mist starts to creep down from the mountains. It just so happens that in the mountains theres a military base where they have been doing experiments. While shopping at the local supermarket a warning goes up as the mist engulfs the town and to the horror of everyone theres something in the mist. Sounds very clichéd it is clichéd but it also works very well. It isn't scary but does a good job of setting atmosphere and anticipation. Also a great ending which you wouldn't expect from a horror film.

The strangers- Now this one I didn't really like at all, for me it didn't offer anything original to the formuliac horror film. Couple staying at the guys parents weekend hideaway home. A creepy girl knocks on door, later knocks again etc. The terror increases from there.

I wasn't that struck on the Strangers either. I watched one called 'Funny Games' last night with Naomi Watts and Tim Roth in. Similar sort of thing to the Strangers but a lot more unnerving and everything that happens in the film, (Violence and Blood wise), happens off screen - which I wouldn't have thought would work - but it was quite powerful!

It's actually a remake of a French film of the same name so I might try and get hold of the French version to see how it compares.

I haven't seen it yet - have been put off by all the bad press, which is a shame cus I was looking forward to it - I loved Jigsaw in the comics.
I'm glad to here someone say something possitive about it - cus bad reviews or not I'll still end up watching it.

Put it this way, if you're a fan of the comics like me, you'll love it. Bad press is there because they dont understand anything about Frank Castle or why he does what he does.

I watched Robocop for the first time a couple of days ago.

I also watched Snakes on a Plane and Pretty Woman last week. The former is pretty funny, especially the toilet scenes. Tongue
