VideoGamer.com podcast
Right, after what seems like a very long time in the making, numerous staff and three different offices, the pilot episode of the VideoGamer.com podcast is ready. We've decided to release this episode to our community only, with the plan being for a show to appear each Friday from now on, so we'd love to hear what you think.

The show is presented by Neon Kelly (the voice of our video reviews and previews editor), and he's joined by myself (Tom Orry, editor), Wesley Yin-Poole (deputy editor) and Seb Ford (video producer).

The pilot runs approximately 75 minutes and covers a wide range of topics, such as if Sony is going to cut its gaming division, Street Fighter IV, Neon's adventures in Fable II, Seb's age and, somehow, my social life. Right click and save as on the link below, have a listen and provide us with your thoughts in this thread. The email address mentioned isn't working yet, so please hold off with the questions for the time being.

Yep, just testing the water with this pilot, but hopefully we'll have it on iTunes when we're up and running properly.

Just a warning about football manager live, theres no phoning dodgy old men for transfers, but you can have a nice private chat with them if your into that sort of thing Wink.

Btw my podcast cut out as you lot were rounding up what your upto for the week and I can't be bothered to listen to it all again to get to same point seeing as I can't skip through it.

I quite enjoyed it tho so look forward to hearing more podcasts in future. I like how you guys don't take it serious it sounds more like a bunch of mates discussing games then some other boring games related podcasts you can get on some sites. Would be nice at some point if you get some guests to join in on the podcast once you have established it further.Last edited on Fri 9 January 2009 by dudester

I first thought: 75 minutes? No way,too long. But then I listened.

I laughed, I cried, I laughed again. Much more entertaining than the IGN podcast. Well done!

Oh and you just destroyed my post on the PS3, I love it!

Very enjoyable. Can't say I'll ever look at HDTV 'dimensions' in the same way again.

I used to do those Play-By-Mail football games too. Expensive stuff... although I cant remember having to phone for transfers.

Oh... and good luck Tom.Last edited on Fri 9 January 2009 by Rogue Soul

I'd like to consider myself somewhat of a podcast connoisseur, having listened to pretty much all the gaming podcasts available. A decent British podcast is certainly needed. Other than One Life Left (which is fantastic,) there's nothing really worth listening to from the UK, meaning that videogamer.com certianly has a chance to be the premier gaming podcast in the UK.

Pretty much finished the podcast now, so here's my impressions...

- In my opinion, of course, the success of a podcast relies almost entirely on the characters that present it. Neon's certainly a great choice of presenter, for some reason I quite put my finger on, I find the bloke terribly funny, Wes also manages to tickle my humour gland quite successfully. I find comedy of particular importance in podcasts such as these, so top work on that front. (The whole Fable 2 conversation was a particular highlight)

- Content wise the podcast was fine, looking forward to some specific features in the future. (Developer interviews and external speakers perhaps?)

- I'm liking the community integration. Competitions and phone ins (Hotspot stylee?) could be good for the future.

- pblive was initially worried that it was too long (which is strange, considering most podcasts are longer) - but this was pretty much perfect for the pilot. For a weekly podcast however, I reckon you could pack more in.

Overall, highly impressed. I'll certainly be a regular listener, and I'm happy to have been there from day 1. Best of luck chaps!

EDIT: Oh, and I loved all the stick Seb was getting. Keep it up! Could be a great running joke.Last edited on Fri 9 January 2009 by Jamin

Cheers for all the comments, guys. Like anything else, I'm sure the podcast is something we'll continue to work on and refine. Glad you enjoyed the pilot though!
